In Luke 10:34 we get the wonderful story of the Good Samaritan. It tells us about a certain man who went down from Jerusalem to Jericho and fell among thieves who wounded him and left him half dead. A priest and a Levite (religious leaders) saw him, but passed by on the other side of the road.

Then came a certain Samaritan who as he journeyed came right to where the man was and when he saw him he had compassion on him, went to him and bound up his wounds and took him to an inn.

Keep in mind it is Jesus telling this story and he is actually describing Himself! But I think I have told you in the past that I have a little book that shares hidden treasure found in the Greek New Testament and this one of them! The word for Inn here is pan-docheion, “the place that receives all”! Not one has ever been turned away from this Inn! No sin will ever cause a person to be turned away! This Inn, of course, represents heaven! It is God’s own Inn, the place of joy and refreshing! “He that comes to Me I will never drive away!” John 6:37

And guess what the name of the host is? Pan-docheus,or ” the person who receives all”. Isn’t that great! He will never turn you away my friend! Paul referred to himself as the “chief of sinners” but praise The Lord he was received into the Inn by the grace of this wonderful Host!

In closing, note that the Samaritan left only enough money for a two day stay meaning he was coming back soon. I can imagine this poor man looking down the road for his new Friend coming back down the road to get him. Can you see him right now looking out the window?

Even so, come Lord Jesus!
