“Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it.” Hebrews 13:2

If you have lived long enough as a believer in Jesus Christ, you will have experiences that you can only describe as “God moments.”  Last week, I had two dear friends relate experiences that were just that!  As they related their stories, we rejoiced together because we knew that only God could have orchestrated such an event!

My friend Joanne excited called me on the phone to say she had the most amazing conversation!  She had called AT&T about a bill and ended up talking to a lady in Thailand.  They got to talking as women do and Joanne asked about the Covid-19 situation in her country.  The lady said it was very bad and many were dying.  Joanne said, “People need to get right with God.”  The lady asked, “Are you a Christian?”  Joanne replied, “Yes!”  That began a conversation about the world situation and spiritual things.  Then the lady asked, “Do you think Jesus is coming soon?”  Joanne replied, “Yes!”  They were able to pray together and cry together!  Joanne was so excited!  What are the chances of a believer in the USA talking on the phone to a stranger in Thailand where less than 2% are Christian?  It was amazing, but not hard for God!  He is a worker of miracles and knew just when a sad lady in Thailand needed to speak to a friendly Christian on the other side of the world!  “You are the God who performs miracles; you display your power among the peoples.” Psalm 77:14

Another friend, Yvonne, sent me a message to tell me of an experience she had.  She and her husband had been discussing the political situation and how they had much to be thankful for in spite of our enemy, satan, being very busy.  Thinking about their kids and grandkids and the needs of so many people, she hopped in her car to go to the grocery store, talking and crying to God.  She was going to rush in and rush out when she saw a dear little couple struggling with a shopping cart.  She helped them and they smiled and thanked her.  Well, she thought, “I need to get in and out”…so off she went only to meet up with them three more times.  In the third aisle, “papa” as “mama” called him, asked Yvonne to get an item for them.  Then mama said, “Can I go get my donut now?”  “Yes, mama, but only one.”  Yvonne asked if she should follow her, but “papa” said, “No, she will meet me at the Starbucks.”  “Papa” got a cup of coffee and waited.  Then came “mama” with a whole bag of donuts!  Papa said, “Now we will have to put the groceries back because we won’t have enough money.”

At that point, Yvonne knew the Lord wanted her to pay for the groceries.  She opened her purse, but had only $50.  In that moment, she was confused…… what really do you want me to do here, Lord?  Well, she took the money and handed it over to papa.  He was embarrassed and said, “no”, but mama said, “Take the money!”  Papa reached across the table and said, “Thank you, God has sent us an angel.”  Mama turned to Yvonne and said, with a smile….”We know you’re not an angel.  In fact, you’re a doubter.  You doubt, doubt, doubt…stop it!  God’s got this!”  My friend literally froze.  What are the odds?  Walking in the store doubting, to a half hour later being told quietly and lovingly….stop doubting.  The tears came, Yvonne promised mama she would stop doubting. God is real and He loves us!  Praise His name, in these days, we need each other to remind us!

A few days later, Yvonne asked the clerk who was there if she could look at the store video to identify the couple.  The clerk said, “You will just see yourself sitting there alone, and I don’t remember checking them out!”  Yvonne has never seen the couple since and she is convinced they were angels sent to cheer her up that day!  “Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?”  Hebrews 1:14.
